Meet Our Staff

Max Bertola, Director
 

Max holds a Masters of Science in English from Utah State University where he graduated from the Professional Communications and Technical Writing Program.

Max developed the first online programs for Utah State University and Utah Valley State College.  Bertola developed the Virtual Classroom platform used by Liahona Online and specializes in the creation of the "community" in online courses.

Max teaches  writing courses for Utah Valley State College, all delivered online, where he was awarded "Teacher of the Year" and also won a national award for his creation of the college's online writing program course for aviation student's from the University Continuing Education Associaton. Utah's Governor Leavitt also presented Bertola a Medal of Merit for his work in establishing an Inmate-to-Inmate Literacy program at the Utah State Prison.

Lance, Academic Advisor - Support Services

Lance came to us from a large state agency. He specializes in supporting students. He also heads our office team to make sure our students and their parents or mentors have the help they need to have a successful educational experience.

Anastasia, Student Support

Anastasia responds to the live support chat sessions. She also completes the assignment tracking and the weekly journal monitoring.

Ben, Information Systems

Ben has a degree in computer science. He specializes in Java programming for the web. He has developed and continues to improve all of our web-based management tools.

Mike, Social Studies

Mike is our social studies curriculum developer. He is certified to teach high school history, geography, civics, world civilizations, and pscychology and sociology. He is a history teacher at a local high school as well.

Darwin, Science

Darwin is one of our newest instructors. He teaches the science offerings our our school. He is a certified high school instructor and like Mike, he teaches at a local high school in the science department.

Mari, Support Services - Accounting

Mari handles student support services as well as working with the school's accounting.

Jess, Curriculum Technician

Jess works with the curriculum development team helping to scan and convert materials into electronic formats.

Hal, Information Specialist

Hal is a long-time supporter of the school. He works to help with any needed resources such as computer systems, equipment, and financial support.
